יומנו של הרב חיים שטיין ת"ש – תש"ד
1940 - 1944
Rav Chaim Stein was among the exceptional talmidim of the Telz Yeshiva in Lithuania who later became a Rosh Yeshiva in Telz Yeshiva in Cleveland. While running from the Nazis through Russia and Siberia he kept a diary, recording in his inimitable style for posterity, a daily record of the challenging life under the communists. The diary covers a five year period from 1940-1944.
Rav Chaim and the group of yeshiva students with him rose above the challenges, and applied the Mussar lessons they imbibed in their yeshivos to their difficult situation. The deeper they sank into a primitive and physically challenging environment, the higher their souls soared, influencing the people around them.
This rare diary was meticulously prepared for publication by a team of scholars under the direction of world-renowned Holocaust researcher Esther Farbstein at Michlala Jerusalem.
