Very early the next morning, while it was still Yom Tov, terrible enemies came from the Gaza Strip, broke through the fences, and started a surprise attack on many places in Eretz Yisrael. Loud sirens and the sound of rockets filled the air. Hundreds of holy Jews were hurt and killed, just for being Jews.

People were very scared. It felt like the whole country had turned dark. But even during those frightening moments, Hashem did amazing and open miracles.

Families who were in great danger were able to escape at the very last second.

Soldiers surrounded by enemies were saved in ways no one could explain.

Homes were hit, but the people inside came out safe.

Big yeshivos with hundreds of boys were in the path of the attackers - and nothing happened to them at all.

It was as if Hashem made the enemies confused and blind, so they couldn't see what was right in front of them.

All across Eretz Yisrael, Jews were davening with tears and strong emunah (faith), and those tefillos brought miracles. The stories in this book are not only about bravery, but also about believing in Hashem, even when things are hard. They show us that Hashem was there every step of the way - watching over and protecting His people.

Even though there was a lot of pain and sadness on Simchas Torah that year, we must always remember that Eretz Yisrael is the safest place in the world, because "the eyes of Hashem are always watching it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year."

If the leaders had listened to the halachah and not given away parts of Eretz Yisrael to our enemies - like the Sinai Desert, Gaza, and other holy places that Hashem gave us - many terrible things could have been avoided.
